When we say free, we mean genuinely free to explore the product. You can sign up, pick a template, write all your copy, upload your photos, and see the live preview without spending anything.
The reason publishing has a one-time fee is straightforward: published invitations stay hosted, stay accessible to guests, and include the RSVP infrastructure. That has a real cost, and a fair way to cover it is per invitation, not via ads.
For comparison: services that advertise fully free often monetize by inserting their branding or ads onto your page. We did not want to build that. A wedding or birthday invitation is not an ad placement.
